Solo Exhibition at Apotheke Gallery
Continuing its curatorial inquiry into contemporary aesthetic and theoretical engagements with notions of 'the city', APOTHEKE presents Eleanna Martinou's new work, part of her ongoing research series on issues of urbanism and the future titled Imaginary Metropolises. Concurrently a programme of collaborative actions, screenings and talks by Architecture 112, Radio Propaganda and George-Icaros Babassakis will further explore the past, present and destiny of cities across their depictions, and their expectations, in Martinou's work and elsewhere.
Opening Party: 28 May, 20:00 with George-Icaros Babassakis as a DJ through a cities-infused playlist
Schedule of Actions, Talks and Screenings on Saturday, 29 May 2010:
20:00 Talk by George-Icaros Babassakis on the Internationale Situationniste, the derive and Guy Debords psychogeographical maps Metropolis (1927), Matrix (1999), Blade Runner (1982) and others.
21:00 Screening of a derive video work by Eleanna Martinou.
21:30 Screening of a lecture by Architecture 112 (Aris Dallas and Stavros Martinos) on City and Utopia, followed by a discussion between Demetris Taliotis, Eleanna Martinou, George-Icaros Babassakis and Omada Ergasias.
Throughout the above the audience will be encouraged to produce ephemeral artworks on the street, utilising Martinou's work, following Guiseppe Pinot Gallizios Industrial Paintings tradition.
